Michael Harrell Database Blog

Blog
Database-a comprehensive collection of related data organized for convenient access, generally in a computer.
You use a database when you want to have a large collection of information that you don’t want to write out. Such as the human genome which contains billions of characteristics and traits you could store all of that onto a computer. You may want to use one when storing information for charts or graphs, or even investments. You may encounter databases on the internet and at work. Databases, just like excel spreadsheets, are used everywhere everyday. They are used very often and are very consistent with organization. They are easy to use and not too hard to put together. A database is different from a spreadsheet because it is mainly made to store information unlike the spreadsheet which is used to store numbers and calculate interest, and loans, and such. But a database is more handy in storing just about anything and can be accessed by almost anyone and its not very hard to use. Although both the spreadsheet and the database are useful tools and both used in everyday life, I believe that the excel spreadsheet is much more useful and much easier to operate.

Dear Coach Lejeune,
How are you? I'd just like to inform you that I forgot to turn in my Romeo & Juliet packet and was wondering if I could make it up tommorow morning. I'd really appreciate it. Thank You.
Sincerely,
Michael Harrell

Dear *College Administrator of Westpoint*,
I really enjoyed talking to you about your school last Thursday, and would really enjoy to look further into your school. When would be a convenient time to come look at your school? What are all the requirements I need to attend your school? I was really interested in your scholarship program and would really like to look into it more. Thank you for your time once again.
Sincerely,
Michael Harrell

New Ipad
Ipad hits the shelves on Saturday, April 3rd and people have already lined up at the apple store at the domain in north Austin. Many people have already reserved their Ipad on March 27th so they could be one of the first to get it. The Lines and camping out people was so bad the store hired a security guard to monitor it all. I personally think the Ipad is pointless because it’s just a larger version of an itouch or iphone. It’s a lot different than a computer too so I actually don’t even see a purpose of it besides making a bigger itouch with a bigger screen and more memory. Strictly entertainment.

Google’s Profit and Revenue Rise, but Analysts Wanted More
Google is definitely the most used search engine on the internet, and its getting even more money with all the advertisements it hosts on its site. The amount of money they have made has risen by about 50% in a year, and still rising. Its incredible how fast the search engine works and I definitely believe that the increase in revenue is well deserved. I know google is the main search engine I use.

If I couldn’t live without one electronic device for an entire month it would probably be my phone. I can barely stand not having my phone during the school day, let alone an entire month. I’m obsessed with texting and have taken the nickname with my family & friends as “Dexter the Texter.” I would replace my phone with my computer because I can still talk to my friends on the computer and I can still play games. It’s just my phone is much more portable and has a much longer battery life than my computer and is easier to talk to people on. There are advantages and disadvantages to both but I’d say the phone still wins with its ability to make calls. I also enjoy listening to music while I ripstick In my yard. It’s a fun thing to do outside and enjoy the weather with but it also requires much talent because it is hard to balance on. I’d say it would definitely be hard to go without my phone for a month but I could replace it with my phone and a good old fashion ripstick in my yard while I watch the sun drop.

I couldn’t live without my Xbox 360. I do not believe I could survive a week without the sweet feeling when I slay someone on Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2. It gives me a rush of energy every time I throw a grenade over a wall and then 10 marker pops up on my screen telling me I killed someone. Also who could forget the quick rush of adrenaline when your playing a game of search & destroy knowing you only have one life. The best feeling in the world is when you knife someone, and you survive. What I believe I would replace it with throwing rocks at trees. It seems to keep me entertained when I have nothing better to do. It seems to give me the same feeling as throwing a football and helps build upper body strength like the shot put. I still don’t think I would be able to replace it though. I don’t think I would last for a month without it. I would be depressed and bored for the entire month. In conclusion that is definitely the electronic device I would not be able to survive without for a month.
